I have been in a super crafty mood lately, so I decided to make some fun little cards to encourage my co-workers. Wonder Woman seemed like the perfect theme. I mean, what girl doesn't want a cape to wear?!
To start off with, I had to make the cape. I am not a good free-style doodler, so I googled cape templates and came up with this basic shape. I think it would work for the majority of the superheros that wear capes.
I traced the cape on red cardstock and cut it out.
Wonder Woman's cape is actually very complex, so I decided to opt for the basic color scheme to simplify it. I took blue cardstock and glued it to the bottom half of the cape. I let the shape of the red be my guide for cutting the excess blue off.
Again, since I cannot draw to save my life, I googled her emblem and printed it out. When cutting it out, make sure to leave the black outlines--it helps the design stand out.
I also used a template to trace out her headband onto yellow cardstock. And for a nice finishing touch, added a red sparkly star in the middle.
I glued the Wonder Woman emblem in the center of the red part of the cape.
For a final touch, I added gold sparkly star stickers to the bottom of the cape. The stars on her cape are supposed to be silver, but since I could only find gold, I thought they worked pretty well.
Finally, I glued the cape and the headband to the front of the card, and put a fun motivational quote and verse on the inside. I love how they turned out and I'm excited to try some other super heroes!!
